Agenda 21, a network of knowledge for development

Agenda 21, Ltd. is a Central American initiative for the generation of knowledge for development and democratic coexistence.  It is distinguished and inspired by three significant principles:

  • Enthusiasm for innovation: the people of Agenda 21, Ltd. enjoy the experience of looking for and constructing new knowledge.
  • Aesthetics in services and products: more than a standard of excellence, the aesthetic is conceived as the ideal of quality to which services and products aspire when they are able to satisfy the expectations of clients and users.
  • Ethics as the context: enthusiasm for new knowledge makes sense when it serves people to improve their lives and contributes to the care of the natural surroundings

In order to achieve its purpose and be consistent with its corporate identity the organizational design of Agenda 21 is based on the conceptual and methodological principles of conversational networks.   This approach to networks represents a way of operating that places “conversation” as a source of learning and the core concept that binds social and political organizations in communities.

Integrated by specialists in different subjects, Agenda 21, Ltd. has adopted the modality of work modules to structure its services.  Linked to the design of the conversational network, a module is defined as a unit of services and products of technical assistance concentrated around a thematic area of development.  At present five modules have been structured:

  • Module 1. Networks and associative practice
  • Module 2. Strategies and campaigns of educational communication
  • Module 3. Policy and project cycles
  • Module 4. Productivity and competitiveness
  • Module 5. Human rights and governance
