Edgar Ardila
Colombian, lawyer, university professor and social entrepreneur. Professor Ardila has been promoting community justice, legal and political research and social networks in Colombia and Latin America for over 25 years. He has coordinated various projects on community justice funded by international agencies such as the Canadian International Development Agency, the United Nations Development Program and the European Union, as well as Colombian institutions.
Professor Ardila teaches in the Faculty of Law at the National University in Colombia, where he specializes in community justice, conflict resolution theory, and the administration of justice in society. He is currently general coordinator of the Community Justice School of the National University, promoting teaching, research and distance learning initiatives in community justice. Professor Ardila coordinated a recent research publication on conflict resolution through mechanisms associated with Colombia's justice system, namely conciliation and justice of the peace. The book, A donde va la Justicia en Equidad en Colombia, analyzes the practice and theory of these alternative justice mechanisms.
